The epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is rapidly developing in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Local research capacity has to be improved in tandem to provide appropriate diagnostic and treatment options to patients suited to our local conditions. In the Department of Surgery, we have concentrated out research work on multiple NCDs like:

  • Trauma – Brain Trauma, Cardiothoracic trauma, Abdominal trauma
  • Obesity
  • Smoking, alcohol and drug related disorders
  • Epilepsy, Parkinson’s and other Neurological disorders
  • Chronic inflammatory disorders
  • Chronic Pain
