Research Summary
Dr. Jasmine’s research focuses on the genetics variants, clinical and epidemiological factors contributing to the treatment and survival outcomes of prostate cancer in Asian settings. She works closely with the PRACTICAL (Prostate Cancer Association Group to Investigate Cancer Associated Alterations in the Genome) consortium, based in the Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK. Together, this collaborative works successfully identified 63 new genetic variations which increase the risk of prostate cancer. She also spearheads the longitudinal Malaysian Prostate Cancer (M-CaP) Study Cohort involving 9 participating MOH hospitals nationwide, with the support of Malaysian National Institute of Health (NIH) and Asian Prostate Cancer (A-CaP) Study Group, University of Tokyo. In addition, she is interested to elucidate the role of obesity, diabetes and hypertension on kidney stone recurrence.
