27 October 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of www.umsurgery.my, the official communication platform of the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (FOMUM) and the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Launched in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the website was developed amidst movement restrictions and operational challenges. Despite these constraints, the department successfully established the platform to ensure the continuity of academic and clinical communication.
Today, www.umsurgery.my serves as a comprehensive medium that supports the department’s teaching, research, and service missions. It provides access to academic resources, surgical training information, and departmental updates, while also highlighting research achievements and academic events.
As the Department of Surgery commemorates this five-year milestone, www.umsurgery.my stands as a testament to the department’s dedication to excellence in education, research, and patient care. Born out of the challenges of a global pandemic, the platform has evolved into a lasting pillar of communication and collaboration. Its continued growth reflects the department’s commitment to advancing surgical knowledge, nurturing professional development, and contributing meaningfully to society — in alignment with Universiti Malaya’s vision of being A global university impacting the world.
